Privacy Policy
This Privacy Policy explains what information Lets Play Live (“we”, “us”) collects when you use our website at letsplaylive.in and any app that opens it (together, the “Service”), how we use it, and who we share it with. The Service is used by tournament officials, referees, academies, coaches, players and spectators to enter, display and follow scores and results, and to manage academy memberships. Our Terms & Conditions also apply.
1. Who we are
Dr. Muninathan K, 1/32, Aringar Anna Street, Siruseri, Chennai 603130, Tamil Nadu, India, operates the Service and decides how the information described here is used. You can reach us at lletsplaylive@gmail.com.
2. What we collect
Account details you give us
When you sign up we collect your name, email address, phone number, street address, city, state, pincode, a username, and the account type you choose (sports academy, academy coach, academy player or general user). If you sign in with Google (“Continue with Gmail”), Google shares your name and email address with us; we never receive your Google password. If you sign up with email, your password is handled by Google Firebase Authentication and is not visible to us in readable form. Academies, coaches and players may also enter a link code to join an academy.
Academy, coach and player records
Academy administrators and coaches can add and manage player records. A record can include the player’s name, optional login email, date of birth, gender, sport or event, coach, batch or scheme, a guardian or contact phone number, the player’s own phone number, notes, and performance records. This information is entered by the academy or coach (or by the player), not collected by us from other sources. Academy administrators and the relevant coaches can see the records of their own academy, and a player can see their own record.
Membership and payments
If you choose a paid membership plan, we store the plan you chose, the amount, any coupon code you used, the transaction reference (UTR) you enter, the approval status, and the start and expiry dates. You pay through your own UPI app; payment is made outside the Service and we do not receive or store your card number, bank account number or UPI PIN. We use the reference you enter to check the payment before approving the plan.
Information entered by tournament officials and referees
When an official saves a bout or relay, we store the result: scores, cards and penalties, the decision (for example who won and how), the tournament, event, pool or table, bout number, piste, the time of saving, and the referee selected for that bout.
Information about competitors and referees
The Service shows and stores the names, clubs or affiliations and rankings or seedings of competitors, and the names of referees, as supplied by the tournament organiser or academy. We do not collect this from the competitors themselves.
Sign-in sessions and usage
When you sign in, Firebase Authentication creates a random identifier that is kept on your device and sent with your requests so that the database can tell authorised sessions apart from others. Some scoring and live-results pages may sign you in anonymously (no name, email address or password) in the same way. We also record whether signed-in users are currently online and keep monthly usage counts, which we use to run the Service and apply any usage limits.
Information stored on your device
The Service saves a small amount of data in your browser or app storage so that it keeps working: a marker that you are signed in (so your dashboard loads faster), your connection settings for scoring equipment (baud rate, bridge address, left/right side choice, whether the scoring box controls the clock), the last referee you selected for a tournament, and scores that are waiting to be sent when you have no internet connection. You can clear this at any time in your browser or app settings.
Technical information
Like any online service, the servers that deliver the Service and its database (see section 4) receive technical information when your device connects, such as your IP address, browser type and device type. This is used to deliver the Service and keep it secure.
What we do not collect
- We do not ask for or collect your precise or approximate location.
- We do not access your contacts, photos, camera, microphone or files.
- We do not collect card numbers or bank account details.
- We do not use advertising identifiers and we do not show advertising. We do not use advertising or analytics SDKs.
3. How we use information
- To create and run your account, and to approve and link academy, coach and player accounts.
- To let academies and coaches manage their players, batches and records.
- To record, calculate and display bout, pool and team results, and to publish live results and standings.
- To let referees and organisers review the bouts a referee officiated (the referee dashboard).
- To process membership requests, check payments and apply coupons.
- To keep scoring working during poor connectivity by holding results on your device until they can be sent.
- To contact you about your account or membership, and to answer your requests.
- To secure the Service, prevent misuse, apply usage limits and fix faults.
- To comply with legal obligations and respond to requests from the people the information is about.
We do not sell personal information, and we do not use it to profile people or make automated decisions about them.
4. Who we share information with
| Recipient | What they receive | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Google (Firebase Realtime Database and Firebase Authentication, and Google sign-in), acting as our service provider | All information described in section 2, including technical information such as IP address | Hosting the database, signing you in and delivering results. Our database is located in Singapore (asia-southeast1); Google may process some data in other countries. See Firebase privacy information. |
| Google Fonts and Google static content, and jsDelivr (a code library host) | Your IP address and browser details when a page loads fonts, images or code libraries from them | Displaying the Service correctly. These providers have their own privacy policies. |
| Academy administrators and coaches | Account and player details of members of their own academy | Managing the academy, its batches and its players |
| Tournament organisers and officials | Results, cards, referee assignments and competitor details for their own tournament | Running the event and keeping official records |
| The public (anyone with the live-results link) | Competitor names, clubs, scores, results and standings | Live and published results are designed to be viewed by spectators, teams and families |
| Authorities or advisers, where required | Only what is needed | To meet a legal obligation or protect rights and safety |
Payments are made through your own UPI app and its provider under their terms; we do not send them your information. Links that open WhatsApp are handled by WhatsApp under its own policy. Because results are public, please tell the tournament organiser or us if you want a name corrected or removed (see section 8).
5. Your device and scoring equipment
Some pages can connect to fencing scoring equipment (for example a Favero FA-07 box) so that scores, cards and the clock can be filled in automatically. This works as follows:
- Your browser asks for your permission before the page can open a serial or Bluetooth port, and you choose the device. You can revoke this in your browser settings.
- The signals from the equipment (scores, cards, clock) are read on your device. They are not sent to us except as the saved result of a bout you submit.
- The pages include an optional recording tool for diagnosing equipment. A recording is created and saved only if you press Record and Save, it is stored as a file on your own device, and it is not uploaded by the Service. If you send a recording to someone, you decide who receives it.
6. How long we keep information
We retain account details and academy/player records until the relevant user requests deletion or the account is closed. Tournament results and related records are retained until a deletion request is made by the person concerned or the relevant organiser, subject to applicable legal, accounting, security and official-recordkeeping requirements. Information required to be retained by law, or reasonably needed to resolve disputes or protect the Service, may be kept for the period required or necessary for that purpose. Data stored on your own device stays there until you clear it or uninstall the app. When we delete information from our live systems, copies in backups are removed on a regular cycle.
7. Security
The Service is delivered over an encrypted (HTTPS) connection. Passwords are handled by Firebase Authentication. Access to write results requires a signed-in session, and access rules on the database limit what each session can read or change. No online service can be guaranteed to be completely secure, so please use the Service with that in mind and keep your password private.
8. Your choices and rights
You can ask us to tell you what information we hold about you, to correct it, or to delete it, to withdraw any consent you gave, and you can object to how it is used. Where it is the organiser’s or academy’s record, we may pass your request to them. To make a request or raise a complaint, email us at the address in section 11 (Dr. Muninathan K is our contact for grievances); we will respond within a reasonable time, and in any case within the time required by applicable law, which may include India’s Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023, and, if you are in the European Economic Area or United Kingdom, the GDPR. You can also clear data on your device, revoke port and Bluetooth permissions, and stop using the Service at any time.
9. Children
Many fencers and academy players are under 18. Their details appear in the Service because their tournament organiser, academy, coach or parent has entered them, as is normal for sport.
- Parent or guardian permission. A child should use the Service, or have a player record or account, only with the permission of a parent or guardian. Academies and coaches who add a child’s details must first have that parent’s or guardian’s consent. We may ask an academy to confirm this.
- Guardian contact. Where an academy gives a guardian’s phone number, it is used only to contact the family about the player’s training, events and account.
- No tracking or advertising. We do not track children’s behaviour, build profiles of them, or show them advertising.
- Your rights. A parent, guardian or the young person can ask us to show, correct or remove their information, or to withdraw consent, by contacting us. Please also tell the organiser if a child’s name should not appear in public results.
10. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. The effective date at the top shows when it last changed. If we make a significant change, we will say so on the Service.
